Al made elevator rides fun

Cassidy picked up her guitar again the other day, she had not played for months and she has only taken maybe 2-3 months worth of lessons, but she remembered how to play and surprised herself.
She does has a gift with music, she picked up the violin easily and her guitar instructor was very impressed that she could read music so well, he said he couldn't even read music as good as her when he was going to Berkley school for music.
So we took her back to guitar lessons the other day to a new place. The new instructor asked what she could play and she said Yankee Doodle and played it for him. He asked Cass what artists she liked and she told him Taylor Swift. He said , I could be wrong but I think you'd much rather play a Taylor Swift song and started to teach her the first chords to Taylor Swift's song "Ours".  She was glad that she will learn a song that she loves.
 This song, "Ours" always reminds me of our times with Alec in elevators.  In the song she sings
;
" Elevator buttons and morning air,
Strangers' silence makes me want to take the stairs.
If you were hear we'd laugh about their vacant stares,
but right now my time is theirs."

But it reminds in the opposite way because Alec always played his singing snowman or his singing Bunnay in the elevator. He would wait for the doors to close and as soon as the elevator started going, he would play his singing snowman or Bunnay-- and he turned all those awkward elevator silences into smiles and laughs. Nobody left an elevator with Alec without a smile on their face. And they all commented on his very loved snowman because he was so dirty and was missing his hat, but Al loved him just the same. ( It was a gift from his Great Uncle Johnny).

Now we are back to awkward elevator silences and vacant stares :(

Alec loved elevators, when he was younger on the days he was in the clinic. Alec only wanted me to stand in front of the elevators holding him and loved watching the doors open and close. He was like the elevator greeting cutie, again everyone who saw him  ended up with a smile on their face. During that phase the staff at the clinic knew where to find Alec;  at the elevators.

Every time I'm on an escalator, I think of Alec. Now, every time I'm in an elevator, I will now think of him, too, with his singing snowman or bunnay... and smile. I know that's what Alec would want me to do, and he'd be so happy knowing he brought a smile to me. ♥
