Sweetie Pie

I always called Alec-- Bubbies,   Bubby Wubby,  Bubs, Mr. Bubs and of course  Al.  He loved when I called him Bubbies. I called him Bugaboo too.  I could not call him Buddy, and we could never call him a good sport--not allowed. Dad called Alec his Buddy and Al and his Twin , they always loved to dress the same and say they were twins, Alec loved it. And Cass called him Al, Alec, my best friend, poophead and many more. But I and noone, except Phyllis from the clinic, ( she took his blood pressure ( only with the manual one--she always knew that this was the only way Alec liked)  only Phyllis could call Alec " Sweeitie Pie". He loved it, and she always said whenever she saw Alec,
"Hi Sweetie Pie"  and he lit up with this great big smile. If I called him sweetie pie, he would say no, only Phyllis can call me that.  Phyllis was so gentle and patient and knew Alec's favorite stickers, "Maisy", "Elmo" and for some reason "Ironman".
Alec loved to give nicknames to people. I put some down on this site, the ones I can remember, I know there are so many more, it was his way of making you feel special or making you laugh. He called one of his nurses at the clinic,  whose name is Katie, he called her "Sweet Voice Katie", and he'd say doesn't she have the sweetest voice? And she does. And it was how sweet she was to Al,  being gentle, talking to him , really listening to him and getting him whatever it was he wanted, usually a certain medical trinket. He'd say where is Sweet voice Katie? That was her name to him.
And the only one who could call him HoneyBun was Rosie, she volunteered at the clinic  and she always called Alec-- Honey bun, he loved it, but only from her.
This is  my story for the day because I got an e-mail from the Oprah site that said Sweeitie Pie's and Keith pointed it out and we remembered how Al loved when Phyllis called him Sweetie Pie. So not to leave anyone out, I know there are so so so many people who Alec loves and who love Alec, and  I will continue to share these stories of all the very special and amazing people who shared in Alec's and our lives.

Keith, Laura & Cassidy:

This website is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. By doing this, you are helping all of us who loved Alec, and I can't express how much that means. Alec was our world, the light in our lives. He was the most wonderful, caring little boy anyone was every lucky enough to know. He gave, and knew, nothing but unconditional love. He made us laugh, he made us stop and see and enjoy the simple things in life. He made us all better people. He was the bravest little boy I ever knew. We've seen our own signs (and we will share those) and are drawing strength from Alec through them. He continues to fill our lives with love and blessings. We miss him every single day.

I love you all,
Love,
Holly

This website is amazing just like you guys and Al. I have so many great memories and signs from Al that l have to share with you all. Everytime I walked into your house Al would grab my hand and look at me with his glistening eyes and say, "Auntie, can you wear your hair like a house today?" He was the sweetest little boy and I always enjoyed his company. I can remember Al always telling me that I reminded him of the Fuzzy Feet book by Dr. Suess, and everytime he said this I couldn't help but give him a warm smile. I remember everytime I would walk into your house to pick Em up Al would always say, "Auntie Cara, I love you, you're beautiful." Many signs of Al have made their way to me and the rest of my family. We are constantly comming across sticks and long skinny's everywhere. Everytime I see a bubble wand, I think of Al and his bubble wand key chain he used to carry everywhere with him. Emily always reminds me that Al used to always crack up when she said hos-eh-ble or when she called him Al-pal. We miss Al very much, but we will always remember that he's still here with us, in our hearts, and that we will never forget this sweet angel that was with us through the best years of our lives.

I can't think of a more touching way for everyone that Alec touched to enjoy is love, sense of humor, kindness, and bravery. I always knew that he was a special boy and much bigger and powerful than his little body, especially when you stop and look at all the people he touched. Alec is always with us here in Dracut and a regular topic of conversation by either a funny moment, a prayer at school or a picture. Thank you Keith , Laura, And Cassidy for this wonderful website.
love, Karla

Laura, Keith and Cassidy, What a beautiful way to collectively share memories of Alec! A touching tribute to your loving, fun, brave, little boy who taught us all what love is truly about. Alec reminded us how the most important things in life are not things. Alec's greatest gift to all us was his love. I know that Alec wanted then and still wants us to continue to share that love.
A day does not go by that Alec and all of you (Laura, Keith and Cassidy) don't cross my mind. Earlier today I was having a conversation with my mother about opening the pool and all I could think about was the day that Alec did not want to get out of the pool and how much he loved letting me hold him, spinning around in the water. Alec found such joy in the simple things in life and that joy was so contagious.
Recently, I was cleaning out a flower bed and found a pile of pine needles. I had to stop and pick them up. I looked up to the sky and said "Alec, look your favorite, pine needles". I remember the bottles of pine needles and leaves Al would keep and how he would sometimes dump them all over the table so he could inspect them.
Thank you for sharing your stories, giving us place to share ours and for letting us know how you are. We miss Alec and we miss you.
Love Denise
