Alec's  great dentist visit

Alec's first visit to the dentist was Dr. Yadzi  which is where Cassidy went.  I sat him on my lap for his check -up. He gagged and threw up , mostly on me, Yet, Dr. Yadzi told me that I would have to take Alec somewhere else.  So we took Alec to Children's hospital Boston for his dental check-ups. Alec did not do very well because he had a big gag reflex, so it was hard for them to do much, they mostly just got to look at his teeth, no cleaning no x-rays. When Al was about 6, he asked if he could go back to Cassidy's dentist, Dr. Yadzi.   We called and asked and he said it would be ok to bring Al in.  After looking at his teeth and attemping cleaning them,  ( and Alec telling him not to gag him--then Alec telling us that he was gagging him),   he told us that he would need to take Alec into The Franciscan Hospital and sedate Alec to clean his teeth and get x-rays.  We were not about to have Alec sedated anymore than he already had to, which was already every 3 months for MRI's.  So we kept trying to coordinate having his teeth examined while he was already sedated at Children's  H, but it never worked out.
Then during a check-up at Al's pediatrician, his Nurse Practitioner, Carolyn, asked about Al's teeth. I told her that his dentist wanted to sedate him at the "H", but we did not want to do this.  She said that was ridiculous, that Alec did not need to be sedated to have his his teeth cleaned, she said Dr Yadzi was probably just afraid to work on Alec. So she told us to go to Dr. Mooney /Dentist.   So I called them and explained the difficulty getting Alec's teeth cleaned and they said no problem and even though I requested Dr. Mooney himself to exam Al's teeth, they said he does not do that, but that that he would check in on him.
So we went , and Al was excited to try somewhere new.  He got Jenn as his hygenist and she was so so nice. I explained the situation and she reassured us that Alec would do fine and she explained everything to Alec and spoke to him so gently, reassuring him and listening to everything Al  asked her and everything Al had to say.   Al always had alot to say.   Alec just sat there and let her clean his teeth,  it was amazing.   It was finally a great dental experience for Al and he just loved Jenn.   He couldn't wait to tell Cassidy and Dada how nice Jenn was, he was so proud of himself too.  He told Cass that she should switch to Dr. Mooney's.   I called their pediatrician and left a message for Carolyn to  Thank you her so much for recommending   Dr. Mooney and that Alec did great.  She was so happy to hear this.

Laura, I remember the conversation we had about Al and the difficulties he had at the dentist, and how concerned you were with having him sedated for his cleanings. I am so glad that Al found Jen and Dr Mooney.
