"And that's how you know it's God asking you to do it".
I have a real hard time with the saying 'God doesn't give you more than you can handle", because living this life is much more than we can handle and it has been this way since Alec was first diagnosed and ultimately not having Alec our arms is way beyond what we can handle.
I can't say I understand what it means that this is how we know it is God asking us to live and endure more than we can handle, and why God asks us to do it, but having a Bishop validate the truth-- that it is completely untrue that we are living without Alec here physically because we can handle it.
Because us and many others are living well beyond with what we can handle.
