I am sharing in hopes that others may want to send anything to help this family out.
Hello Keith,
It’s wonderful to hear from you again.
I have a family that could desperately use some help.
Patient: Christopher Poulin
DOB: 11-25-2015
Dx: Neuroblastoma (August 2017)
Patient is the youngest of 7 children of this blended family. Six of the children live at home and the oldest sibling lives elsewhere. This family lost their home to fire a short time ago and are now living in another home which they are renting for $1000/month until December. Mom states at that time if they need to continue to rent that house, they can renegotiate with the landlord. Mom does not work outside the home; dad works as a carpenter but hasn't worked in a while due to the fire and their son's illness. The family receives SSI for their 17 year old daughter who has cerebral palsy (w/c bound). She was severely burned in the fire and required hospitalization and rehab. The family also has access to some money due to funds raised on their behalf after the fire but it is slowly dwindling . Last year their 4 year old daughter had open heart surgery and a month before Christopher was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, maternal grandmother passed away. This family has sustained one loss after another and still manage to smile and be positive throughout their long stay at Boston Childrens.
I was just told by Christopher’s paternal grandmother that the house they are currently staying in has no running water due to a broken well and they are being asked to leave so they can sell the property. They are using grandma’s house for showers and are buying jugs of water for drinking and cooking. The family has paid rent through to December and Dana-Farber is trying to access more funds to help with another rent at another location so the gift of $1000 to this family would be such a tremendous help at this time.
You can make out the check to Melissa Lindstrom or Christopher Poulin
Thank you in advance for helping this wonderful family during the holidays,,
Patricia
Good morning Laura,
I visited with grandma last night at the hospital to ask if you could share the family’s story and she said yes. She also
let me know that Christopher’s father got admitted to the hospital for a ruptured colon. They are hoping it will not need surgical intervention but if it does he will need a temporary colostomy.
I have never met a family with so much tragedy and distress in their life before.
So anything you can do to help put the word out for them would be wonderful.
Patricia
